The estate and manor house of Nysø outside the town of Præstø was built in 1671-73 for the merchant Laurits Nielsen. The architect is unknown, but the red brick building decorated with sandstone ornaments is one of Denmark?s most beautiful manor buildings from the baroque era.
The building is surrounded by waterfilled moats on three sides and is part of a symmetric layout with gardens towards the south and the barn buildings towards the north.
The estate gardens are open throughout the year. Entrance fee 10 dkr
