| Stage 11, Neustrelitz - Neuglobsow approx. 40 km.
Neustrelitz (S), your destination on the last stage, is also the starting point for the next leg of your journey. Set off along the already well-known path along Zierker See. Nearby is a Slavic village where you can study the life of the Slavs during the Middle Ages. Pass through Lindenberg [1] and head south towards Groß Quassow [2]. If you are interested in churches, you may like to visit the Neo-Gothic town church, which has a bell from 1520. The road passes through shady woodland and past glittering lakes; it is exceedingly beautiful and bound to make the heart of any cyclist beat a little faster. Cycle along the shore of lake Woblitzsee and you´ll soon reach Wesenberg [3], where parts of the town´s old castle wall still remain along with the fully intact castle turret, which now houses a museum and a viewing platform. The entrance to the Gothic church of St. Marienkirche is dominated by a huge 600-year-old lime tree, with a trunk that measures almost eight metres in circumference. Inside the church you´ll find a chain which is said to have been forged by the Devil himself. The museum for tin toys and mechanical musical instruments, on the other hand, is a cheery place - look in and admire the beautiful old toys in the company of the many other visitors. Next, set off once again on your bike. Just before you reach Neudrosedow [4], take a small detour to Rätzsee and enjoy the beautiful scenery - this whole area is full of beautiful views of lakes and rivers. You´ll get another chance to enjoy the panorama near Gobenowsee. Continue past Seewalde [5]. Before passing Wustrow, you´ll come through a wood and past a number of small lakes. Continue via Strasen [6] and Großmenow [7] to Steinförde [8], where the nature trail allows you to study the local flora and fauna. Next, you´ll be following the footsteps of the great German poet Theodor Fontane through one of the most densely forested regions in Brandenburg towards the legendary Stechlinsee. On the shores of the lake, which is one of the cleanest in Germany, you´ll find the State-approved health resort of Neuglobsow (D). Visit the new glass museum and the notorious "Murder Beech".
If you´re not in the mood for a literary journey but want to rest instead, then take advantage of all the recreational facilities available in Stechlin and go diving, sailing, swimming or fishing - or simply relax for the rest of the day.
